About Us

The cell systems science group at NIST carries out cutting edge experiments in measurements and models of complex biological systems. They carryout measurements and develop models that support the understanding of complex biological phenomena at the cellular and subcellular level through bio-imaging, measurement of protein interactions, microfluidics, and bioinformatics. One of the grand challenges of bioinformatics is to develop an extensible and evolving terminology to elucidate the results of these studies in a Web environment using human and machine friendly terminology.
