Cell Type

This database provides reference data on controlled cell image experiments. The database contains both A-10 rat smooth muscle cell images and NIH-3T3 mouse fibroblasts.

A-10 Rat Smooth Muscle Cell

The A-10 rat smooth muscle images include images of rat smooth muscles derived by Smith and Cooper from the thoracic aorta of an embryonic rat from the established DB1X strain. The cells presented in the digital images were immunoflourescently labeled with mouse some type of antibodies. Select A-10 from the left navigation menu to view the images and associated meta-data.

NIH-3T3 Mouse Fibroblast

This cell line was established by two NIST scientists and has become the standard fibroblast cell line. The 3T3 designation is the abbreviation of "3-day transfer, inoculum 3* 10 cells". The cell line was established from the primary mouse embryonic fibroblast cells that cultured by the designated protocol. Select NIH-3T3 from the left navigation menu to view the cells.
